These cost items apply
The total is made up of several building blocks: the vehicle price, freight to Europe, customs and import VAT, plus the cost of TÜV and registration in Germany.

Customs and import VAT
Cars usually incur 10 % customs, calculated on the vehicle value plus freight. Import VAT of 19 % is then added on that sum.

Worked example
An example for orientation: vehicle price 50,000 euros, freight 2,500 euros. The customs value is therefore 52,500 euros, and customs at 10 % is 5,250 euros.
